Junior ‘B’ Hurling League: The North Junior ‘B’ Hurling league continued last weekend.
In Group 1, Nenagh Éire Óg had a 3-11 to 2-11 victory over Borrisokane. Éire Óg had the better of the first half and enjoyed a 3-8 to 0-9 half time lead with their goals coming from Aodhan O’Connor and Christopher Ryan. Kiladangan defeated Portroe 4-15 to 3-16 in the second game in the group with Kiladangan leading 3-7 to 1-9 at half time. Ciaran Kelly, Frank Flannery, Bill Cleary, and Eoin Meagher were the Kiladangan goal scorers whilst Mark Gennery (2) and Anthony Bourke found the back of the net for Port.
After two rounds of games – Kiladangan sit top of the group with four points, Éire Óg second with three points, Portroe with one point and Borrisokane with zero points. Round 3 games take place this Saturday 20th May with both games at 7.00pm – Portroe host Borrisokane whilst Kiladangan host Nenagh Eire Og in Puckane.
Jack Ryan (2), Tim Flaherty and Jim Shanahan were goal scorers for Toomevara in their 4-13 to 4-11 over Templederry Kenyons in Group 2. Templederry had a 2-9 to 1-8 half time lead. Toome hit three goals in the first three minutes of the second half to turn the tide in the game. Templederry hit two goals in the closing minutes of the game, but Toome held out for victory.
The remaining game in this round took place on Tuesday 16th in Shalee with Ballinahinch hosting Newport with no result at time of going to print.
The final round of the group takes place this Saturday 20th May with both games at 7.00pm – Toomevara host Ballinahinch whilst Newport host Lorrha.
In Group 3, Moneygall continued their good form with a 3-16 to 1-16 win over Ballina whilst Knockshegowna defeated Burgess on a 2-14 to 1-11 scoreline.
Moneygall sit top of the group with four points, Ballina and Knockshegowna both on two points each with Burgess on zero points.
Round 3 will take place this Friday 19th May at 7.30pm – Ballina host Knockshegowna whilst Moneygall host Burgess.
The top two teams in each group will progress to the knock out stages. Two of the three top placed teams will progress straight to the semi-finals whilst the remaining top placed team will join the three second placed teams in the quarter finals.
Under 13 Football County Finals: Well done to the North sides that claimed silverware last Sunday in the County Under 13 Football Finals. Toomevara claimed the ‘B’ title after a 1-11 to 1-3 win over Mullinahone. Portroe claimed the ‘C’ title after a 4-9 to 2-6 win over Newcastle whilst Ballina won the ‘D’ grade after defeating Cappawhite.
