A Nintendo fan made an incredible find at a yard sale, getting six GameCube games for just $5. The retro gaming market has been dealing with inflated prices in recent years, with the GameCube’s library of games proving to be particularly susceptible to rising prices.
GameCube games often go for ridiculous prices on sites like eBay, which is a big reason why fans want Nintendo to bring the console’s library of games to modern platforms. Nintendo has made some of the GameCube’s best games playable on Switch, like with the recent Metroid Prime remaster and Super Mario Sunshine, but there are still many incredible games trapped on the old console.
Because GameCube games are so expensive, it’s always exciting when one is able to find them for cheap. That’s what happened with Reddit user ludoludoludo, who recently shared their incredible yard sale find. According to the Reddit user, they found the GameCube versions of Resident Evil Zero, the Resident Evil remake, Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3: Nemesis, Resident Evil 4, and P.N.03, all complete in box. The games were being sold for $1 apiece, but the Reddit user was able to get them all together for just $5.
A trip to eBay puts into perspective just how incredible of a deal this is. P.N.03 goes for around $70, Resident Evil 1 goes for around $30, Resident Evil Zero goes for around $20, Resident Evil 2 goes for over $100, Resident Evil 3 goes for around $85, and Resident Evil 4 goes for around $35. This means the Reddit user basically got around $340 worth of video games for just $5, which is an incredible deal, to say the least.
The good news is that most of these games are readily available to play on modern consoles for a lot cheaper than what they go for on eBay. There are HD remasters available for Resident Evil 1 and Resident Evil Zero, while Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 have full-blown remakes available to play. The HD version of Resident Evil 4 can be played on modern consoles, as can the recently-released remake.
The only one of these games not playable on modern platforms is P.N.03. Directed by Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami, P.N.03 is a third-person shooter game that released in 2003 as part of the Capcom Five games. It earned mixed reviews at the time of its release, but it would still be nice to see the game made playable on today’s consoles.
