There will be an abundance of food, arts, craft, jewellery, gifts and more as the inaugural Twilight Markets kickstart this year’s Childers Festival.
Childers Fine Foods owners Mark and Nat Albert are organising the new addition to the Childers Festival and they said it’s going to be the perfect start to the four-day event.
“The interest has been overwhelming,” Nat said.
“We are currently booked out, looking at potential ways we may expand a little.
“Expect so much!
“An abundance of food vans, rides, helicopter joy flights, condiments, fashion, jewellery and arts and crafts.”
More than 100 market stalls showcasing delicious food and skilled artisans are set to line Childers Showground from 2 to 7 pm on Thursday 27 July.
Nat said the Twilight Markets had proved popular with both local and travelling stallholders taking advantage of the new addition.
“We have a good mix of both,” Nat said.
“A lot of travellers who are coming up for the Childers Festival have booked in for an extra event, as well as loads of locals from Bundaberg through to Hervey Bay and surrounds.”
Local Childers business owner Sandy Tyas said she was excited to be a stallholder in the first Twilight Markets event.
“I’m expecting it is going to be a really big event,” Sandy said.
“It is such a great idea to kick off the whole weekend of festivities.
“I think it will be fantastic for both the town and the region with lots of people out and about.”
Stocking homemade dog treats of biscuits and healthy meals, along with dog accessories including jackets to keep man’s best friend warm this winter, Sandy said her business Happy as Larry Dog Treats was prospering.
Sandy opened Happy as Larry Dog Treats just before last year’s Childers Festival and she said the influx of visitors to the region had been beneficial.
“On the Sunday I will have my shop doors open also,” she said.
“I’ve lived here for a few years and Childers Festival has always been such a fantastic event, everyone is really looking forward to it again.”
