West Hartford-based NBC Connecticut has hired Anthony Carpino as its new weekday meteorologist.
Carpino annouced on June 13 that he is taking a postion at NBC Connecticut. He will be replacing the station’s former meteorologist, Josh Cingarnelli, who left the news station earlier this year after six years to take a job at the Connecticut Division of Emergency Management and Homeland Security.
Carpino is originally from the New England area, but has been working as a meteorologist in Augusta, Georgia, since 2019. This will be Carpino’s second time as an employee at NBC Connecticut, as he previously worked as a weather intern for the station back in 2018.
He also spent time working as a weather reporter for his college news station in Lyndonville, Vermont. In October 2022, Carpino was a part of the winning “Best Weather Team” awarded by the Georgia Association of Broadcasters.
On Twitter, Carpino said that he is “excited to be heading home.”
Carpino wrote that his last day at his current news station will be June 27, but there is no information for when he will start at NBC Connecticut.
