Nathan Adam Martin was born on June 30, 1993, in Dickinson to Brian Martin and Irene (Olheiser) Polly. Nathan grew up and attended school in both South Heart and Dickinson Public Schools. During high school Nathan enjoyed working at various restaurant establishments including Sanford’s and JD’s BBQ. Nathan had an interest and special skill for cooking and loved cooking for family and friends. In 2013 his dad started an excavating business, Heart River Excavating, where Nathan proudly worked alongside his dad Brian until Brian’s passing in 2019. He would later work at Charbonneau Car Center as a service technician up until his passing. He was a hard worker and took pride in any job he did, typically going above and beyond what was expected of him. He was dependable and someone you could rely on.
He will be remembered for all the heart he shared with his family and friends. While Nathan was quiet in nature, he soaked up the time and laughs he shared with his friends and family.
Nathan held an incredible special bond with his mother, Irene Polly. He was able to depend on her for support and always knew that whatever the circumstance, Nathan could count on his mother. Nathan will forever be her “Nater”.
He enjoyed making others laugh, using his quick wit and natural charm. He was a devoted uncle and loved spending time with Maci, Mason, and Oscar.
He had a love for his favorite teams, Las Vegas Raiders, UND Fighting Sioux, and despite his sister’s opinion, NDSU football. He enjoyed traveling with his father to numerous NASCAR races as well as family vacations with his dad and Uncle Kurt.
Later in life, Nathan enjoyed playing softball with his friends after years of being dragged to his mom’s games when he was younger.
He will be greatly missed by his dogs, Apollo and Tucker. He is survived by his mother, Irene Polly; sister, Jennifer (Jon) Puppe; brothers, Justin Polly and Dustin Polly; niece and nephews, Maci Puppe, Mason Puppe and Oscar Puppe; Godparents, Kurt Martin and Jackie Martin; special friend, Sarah Ramsey along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends.
