Bosses are investigating after complaints of discoloured water at a popular Solihull beauty spot. People visiting Babbs Mill during the sunny weekend were left alarmed after seeing water with a blue tint.
Local MP Saqib Bhatti said he had also received reports amid claims of a “waste spillage”. He added he had been in touch with the local authority to get to the bottom of it.
Now, Solihull Council has issued a statement. It said it was aware of the mystery hue and water company Severn Trent was probing the circumstances.

A statement read: “We have received reports regarding discolouration of the water in an area of the River Cole that runs through Babbs Mill Park. Severn Trent are aware of this and are investigating.”
One local resident took to social media to highlight the problem. The person posted on a neighbourhood group and said he had been left angry.
They wrote: “This is the sad state of our lovely Babbs Mill Lake and River Cole overflowing with sewage and hundreds and hundreds of dead fish. Absolutely disgraceful one of the few truly nice places in our area ruined. Fuming.”
Mr Bhatti said: “Thank you to residents who have contacted me regarding reports of a waste spillage in Babbs Mill Lake in Kingshurst. I have been in touch with Solihull Council regarding these reports. The relevant authorities have been made aware and are investigating. Rest assured they will take action as appropriate and I will keep residents updated on developments.”
