Geelong has recorded at least five stabbings in recent weeks including a man who mysteriously presented himself to hospital with suspected stab wounds.
Police said a man presented himself to Corio police station with stab wounds on Monday night.
It is believed the 20-year-old was stabbed in the leg on Camellia Crescent in Norlane earlier in the evening.
Victoria Police spokeswoman Sergeant Julie-Anne Newman said the man was then to taken Geelong hospital.
Hours later, a second man presented himself to the emergency department at Geelong hospital after 7:30pm.
It is believed he was being treated for stab wounds.
“The exact cause of his injuries are yet to be determined at this stage,” Sergeant Newman said.
Police are continuing to investigate how both men received their injuries.
Geelong Acting Inspector Stephen Pucar said any crime involving a knife “is a concern”.
“However it’s important to acknowledge that the majority of stabbings in Geelong are between parties known,” he said.
The mysterious incidents are among a string of terrifying stabbings across the region.
On May 24, a man was stabbed in Mount Duneed after a group of men allegedly tried to steal his car.
Police allege the group used a machete and a cricket bat to assault the man.
On May 11, a group of masked men allegedly tried to steal a man’s Harley Davidson motorbike.
Detectives were told a physical confrontation occurred where the owner of the motorbike was stabbed in the leg.
Days before on May 8, a man was left fighting for life about being stabbed in the Geelong CBD.
Two teenagers, an 18-year-old from Norlane and a 19-year-old from Bayswater, were charged after the alleged stabbing.
The Addy understands the incidents are not linked.
Acting Inspector Pucar said it was “incredibly rare” for a random civilian to be stabbed.
“If you see someone carrying a weapon, please contact police at the earliest opportunity,” he said.
Local officers are continuing to target knife crime through planned searches as part of OMNI operations, a proactive initiative to detect weapons in the community and enhance safety.
