Adelaide’s homeless community received a tremendous outpouring of support and generosity over the weekend, as the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth South Australia successfully raised over $8,000 during their Charity Walk on Sunday, June 18th. The funds raised will go towards providing warm meals to those in need, particularly crucial during the winter season.
Speaking to The Wire, Ata-ul-Hadi, President of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth, highlighted the challenges faced by the homeless population in Adelaide and across Australia. He emphasized the importance of addressing the issue by providing shelter and warm meals, saying, “We freshly prepare the food in our kitchen, pack it into boxes, and deliver it straight to those who are in need. The food is warm and accompanied by other small items of necessity.” This initiative by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth aims to alleviate one aspect of homelessness and make a meaningful difference in the lives of those affected.
Imam Kamran Tahir further highlighted the impact of the fundraising efforts in a recent ABC Adelaide radio interview, noting that Humanity First Australia, the organization behind the initiative, operates as a non-profit charity with zero administrative costs. This ensures that 100% of the donations received directly benefit those in need.
