A Belmont mum is sharing Japanese desserts including cream puffs and souffle cheesecakes through a new dessert business.
Now, she’s sharing them on a much larger scale thanks to an online business selling the treats.
In April this year, she left her job as a cleaner to pursue her cake venture, Sweet Chaco, full-time.
“We don’t have anything like this in Geelong,” she said.
Ms Kobiro makes a range of Japanese style desserts including chiffon cakes, cream puffs, strawberry shortcakes and souffle cheesecakes.
“I just want you to feel happy when you eat one of my cakes,” Ms Kobiro said.
Her husband, Trent Edwards, said the Japanese baking process makes the cakes “super light and fluffy”.
The mother-of-two, who is from Japan and has been living in Australia for about six years, said the response from the community had been “very good”.
“People who are not familiar with Japanese cakes, (said) it’s very light and fluffy … with just right amount of sweetness,” she said.

The couple held her first stall at a local market earlier in May and they sold out of cakes within a “couple of hours”.
“We wanted to dip our toe into the world of markets and it was so successful,” Mr Edwards said.
“The decadence and the presentation of the cakes have really drawn the attention of the community.
“People have travelled to Japan and they want to reminisce and remind themselves of the beautiful desserts they had so this is filling that gap.”
Ms Kobiro hopes to continue selling her products at local markets across the region and one day hopes to open her own Japanese-style cafe with authentic desserts.
