The following contains spoilers for Moon Knight #22, on sale now from Marvel Comics.
Moon Knight has always been a team player. However, the allies he gathered throughout the years often nurtured his more violent tendencies but didn’t always stay by his side once he crossed a line. Recently, Marc Spector went through a significant change that redefined him. He is no longer a violent protector of the night. Instead, he’s a protector of those who need help the most. And, this led him to cross paths with Eddie Brock’s son, Dylan, the current host of Venom.
In Moon Knight #23 (by Jed MacKay, Alessandro Cappuccio, Rachelle Rosenberg and VC’s Cory Petit) Dylan found himself seeking assistance from Marc after his father recommended him. But, like all classic Marvel team-ups, this ended in a fight against villains. However, this was more than just a superpowered brawl, it was also a lesson, and it proved that Moon Knight has become Marvel’s best mentor.
Moon Knight is a Great Mentor for the New Venom
Being cornered by the New Enforcers was unexpected, but Marc adjusted to the situation quickly as he understood how mercenaries and criminals operated. This also opened the door for Marc to walk Dylan through how to defeat not only the villains but also any group of people by using simple logic. The most impressive part of the entire sequence wasn’t the action, but the patience Marc had for Dylan.
Whether it’s because of Moon Knight’s role as a father or the fact that he’s incredibly skilled in combat, it’s clear he has a knack for training young heroes. His patience with the angry and lost Dylan helped him open up and explain some of the more difficult aspects of his abilities, like hearing frequencies. Considering how much he has changed already, this new bond could make a huge impact on his future.
Moon Knight Has Become the Perfect Teacher
Since founding the Midnight Mission, Moon Knight has added many selfless people to his cause. This helped him maintain his values and allowed him to focus solely on helping people, regardless of the circumstances. And, as a result, there is more harmony between himself and his alters than ever.
While Marc had already met other heroes since founding the Midnight Mission, the payoff of his new direction was made prevalent when he teamed up with Dylan. By showing him the ropes, he likely helped him become a better protector than even his father, and it also proved that all the changes Moon Knight has made in his own life have paid off as well.
