Here are the violations reported in food safety inspection reports from Montgomery County conducted the week of May 20-26, 2023.
Each week, we highlight the inspection reports for retail food and drink establishments under the jurisdiction of the Montgomery County Office of Public Health. All establishments are inspected once per year, and inspectors may return several more times if the initial inspection is not passed or complaints are received. (For more information on how food safety inspections are conducted in Pennsylvania, view a list of FAQs.)
As noted by the MCOPH, the reports are merely a “snapshot” in time, and “may not be representative of the overall, long-term cleanliness of an establishment.” Many of the violations are corrected on the spot prior to the inspector leaving the establishment.

- Follow up inspection conducted. No pic was present, and facility was closed. Ehs spoke with owner at time of inspection. At time of follow up ehs observed that facility has properly disposed of all grain waste that was stored in storage totes at the rear of the facility. There was no residual solid or liquid waste and ehs did not detect any type of odor at time of inspection. Outdoor storage totes must be in good condition and leak proof with no damaged lids or sides of totes. Lids must always be closed and tight fitting. Facility must ensure that totes and lids are contained in manner so that water cannot collect on tops of lids or inside of totes. Outdoor storage of waste grains can never emanate a strong persistent odor regardless of the time frame the grains are being stored outside. A 2 week follow up inspection will occur to ensure compliance is being maintained. Failure to correct and maintain any and all violations may lead to legal action, citations, and/or closure.

- Ehs observed a violation with the facilities grain disposal system during an inspection of a neighboring facility. Inspection drafted. At time of on-site inspection facility was not open and no representatives from facility were on site. EHS spoke with facility owner by phone at time of inspection discussed inspection finding and confirmed a valid email address. Owner stated grains will be removed within 48 hours and the prior weeks removal did not happen due to issues the disposal pick up company. At time of inspection the following was observed. Approximately 20 totes were observed filled with grain waste and stored outside the rear area of the facility. A strong persistent odor was detected. A liquid residue was observed on lids of some totes. Some totes were damaged or not tightly sealed. At this time MCOPH is requiring that facility owner draft a written statement regarding the process and time frame that grains are processed, stored and removed from the grounds. Outdoor storage totes must be in good condition and leak proof with no damaged lids or sides of totes. Lids must always be closed and tight fitting. Outdoor storage of waste grains can never emanate a strong persistent odor regardless of the time frame the grains are being stored outside. A 48 hour follow up inspection will take place to ensure grain waste is removed. Failure to comply may lead to legal actions or closure of the facility.
