Goldfields Eight Ball Association teams returned from last weekend’s annual country week series in Perth with mixed results, underpinned by division four success.
Captained by eight ball veteran Jerry Virieux, the division four side highlighted the association’s campaign by losing one match.
However, the division one team endured a frustrating near-miss in their bid for a third consecutive title — eventually finishing second.
Local teams competing in division two and division eight also finished second.
Brody Conroy and Jake Persello each capped off strong individual performances by being named as joint winners for games won in the top division.
Virieux and Mark Harris were the runners-up for those honours in division four and division eight, respectively.
Goldfields success was extended when Conroy, Persello and Grant Weekly earned All-Star selection.
Domestic fixtures resume on Thursday night when top sides Country Club Cobras and Grand Masters are opposed.
Grand Plan will look to continue their hot form when they host Main Reef Breakers in the division two match-of-the-round.
Division four championship team:
J. Virieux (captain); M. Smith; S. Porcelvam; M. Cameron; Simon Jones; Steve Jones.
