In week five of Caithness Cycling Club’s 10-mile time trial season Iain Miller clocked the fastest time with a 33-second advantage over Alistair Miller, with Angus MacKay edging out Roger Broughton for third place.
With a temperature of 11 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of just three miles per hour, conditions were pleasant but not fast as the course needs a north-west breeze to help riders on the predominantly uphill outward leg. Nevertheless three riders recorded their best times this year, with Phil Cartwright improving by a massive 73 seconds, followed by Gary Angus (38 seconds) and Alistair Miller (one second).
Results: 1 Iain Miller, 26 min 43 sec; 2 Alistair Miller, 27.16; 3 Angus MacKay, 27.52; 4 Roger Broughton, 27.55; 5 Phil Cartwright, 29.14; 6 Gary Angus, 29.24; 7 Peter Forsyth, 31.21.
