Mildura is officially in the running to win the 2023 TAC Victorian Top Tourism Town Award, with public support needed to clinch the title.
The Victorian Top Tourism Town Awards, delivered by the Victoria Tourism Industry Council and supported by the TAC, recognise towns that deliver amazing visitor experiences and are committed to growing tourism to their destination.
Seventeen towns are vying for the award, which will come down, in part, to the result of a public vote.
Councillor for Economic Development and Tourism Stefano De Pieri encouraged the community to head online and vote for Mildura.
“This is a fantastic opportunity to once again showcase our region as a tourism hotspot,” he said.
“Our region boasts some of the best attractions, weather, food and wine in the country, and we should be proud of what we have to offer.
“Whether it’s visiting our region as a tourist, or becoming a tourist in your home, there’s something for everyone, and our region deserves to be celebrated.
Mildura Regional Development Interim CEO Peter Alexander said that the collaborative efforts of both MRCC and MRD in the submission had been phenomenal.
“It is with great pride and excitement that our region has been recognised as a finalist for the second year running in the Victorian Top Tourism Town Awards,” he said.
“We hope locals and those visitors who love our region get behind us and add their vote for Mildura.”
By voting, residents will also go into the draw to win weekend for two in Melbourne valued at $1500.
The prize, sponsored by Time Out and Sofitel Melbourne on Collins, includes two nights’ accommodation at the Sofitel Melbourne on Collins and two dining vouchers.
Voting closes on 22 June, head to www.vtic.com.au/toptourismtown/mildura/ to cast your vote.
The winning town will go on to represent Victoria at the Australian Top Tourism Town Awards.
