The much-anticipated Western epic “Killers of the Flower Moon” directed by Martin Scorsese is set to release in theaters on October 20th. The movie features Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro as the lead cast and is based on David Grann’s 2017 best-selling non-fiction book “Killers of the Flower Moon: The Osage Murders and the Birth of the FBI.”
The narrative is centered in Oklahoma during the 1920s and focuses on the Osage Nation murders as a result of a conflict over oil rights. It also delves into the newly-formed FBI’s investigation to solve the killings and bring justice to the community. The cast is supported by Jesse Plemons and breakout star, Lily Gladstone from “Certain Women.”
DiCaprio, who plays Ernest Burkhart, is the nephew of a significant local rancher, De Niro. He becomes a part of the Osage Nation murders and is married to an Indigenous woman portrayed by Gladstone. Plemons stars as Tom White, the lead FBI agent investigating the murders. Originally, DiCaprio was to play the FBI agent, but he then switched the script to take on the role of Burkhart, a morally ambiguous character.
The trailer begins with a bone-chilling voiceover by DiCaprio’s character Ernest, asking, “There are so many, many hungry wolves. Can you find the wolves in this picture?” As the teaser intensifies, glimpses of DiCaprio, De Niro, and Gladstone are shown, with scenes of chaos, violence, and screams in the background. The trailer ends with the title card reading, “Greed is an animal that hungers for blood” and DiCaprio’s character repeating his earlier question, “Can you find the wolves in this picture?”
Apple and Paramount Pictures will distribute “Killers of the Flower Moon” in theaters, and suspense among the audiences has been building up for the release of the film. Being the first collaboration movie of DiCaprio and De Niro with Scorsese in almost two decades, the expectations of the movie’s success are high. Fans are eagerly waiting to experience this thriller on the big screen.
