The Warwick Senators women’s team handed the Mandurah Magic their fifth loss of the season on Saturday night.
The Magic lost against the Cockburn Cougars in last weekend’s double round clash but quickly bounced back to win against the Goldfield Giants.
The Senators were eager to secure the round 13 win at Mandurah Aquatic and Recreation Centre and welcomed back captain Nicole Jorre de St Jorre, who was celebrating her 450th game of her NBL1 West career.
The Senators opened up a seven-point lead during the first quarter and added nine in the second quarter to be leading 45-39 at half-time.
Mandurah hit back in the third quarter, scoring 32 points to 26, and at one point were in the lead before the thid quarter ended with scores level.
However, it didn’t take long for the Senators to regain momentum and in the fourth quarter they went on to add 24 points to 15, claiming the 95-86 win over the Mandurah Magic.
The win improved the Senators’ record to 7-6, while the Magic are now 10-5.
Stacey Barr added 18 points, five rebounds, five assists and three steals, Chloe Forster 17 points, eight assists and six boards and Jorre de St Jorre celebrated her 450th game with eight points, three assists and two steals.
Sarah Toeaina top-scored for Mandurah with 22 points, eight rebounds and six assists on 9/12 shooting, with Kat Tudor putting up 22 points and five boards, and Casey Mihovilovich 20 points, eight assists, four steals and three rebounds.
Mandurah Magic will take on the Cockburn Cougars on June 23 at 6.30pm at the Mandurah Aquatic and Recreation Centre and the Warwick Senators on June 25 at noon at Warwick Stadium.
