“During that altercation, an offender has produced a firearm. I can confirm that the firearm has been discharged and the victim has received a gunshot wound,” Detective Inspector Jason Kitto said.
The man was allegedly shot in the groin.
He was taken to Dalby Hospital, from where he has been airlifted to Toowoomba Hospital. His injuries aren’t life-threatening.
Police said the two men drove off in the Triton.
The alleged incident sparked a police manhunt before the Triton was spotted on the Warrego Highway travelling towards Toowoomba.
Police put out tyre spikes which slowed down the ute.
It’s alleged the duo kept driving until they hit the man on the motorbike at an intersection in Toowoomba.
The motorcyclist suffered minor injuries and was taken to Toowoomba Hospital in a stable condition.
The men — aged in their 30s — have been taken into custody.
A gun was allegedly found in the ute.
Kitto said police expected to lay charges against the men.
Police are appealing for witnesses.
