A man has been missing for nine days, enduring subzero temperatures in a heavily wooded region of Queensland.
Luke Ferguson, 28, was last seen leaving a South Burnett property on foot just after midday on June 9.
A major search operation is underway as military personnel, SES volunteers and aerial technology is used to comb hundreds of square kilometres of a heavily wooded area in the hopes they will find Mr Ferguson alive.
Grave fears are held for his welfare due to a medical condition and the impact of multiple nights of subzero temperatures in the wilderness.
Search efforts are honing in on the five-kilometre radius surrounding the Proston Abbeywood Road property where he was last seen.
The search party – including 20 local landholders, 40 ADF personnel, 24 SES volunteers and multiple police set out again early on Saturday morning and will conclude at last light.
Three locals on horseback are tracking through large open farm areas and multiple drones are scanning surrounding farmland.
Police on dirt bikes are aiding in the search while all-terrain vehicles are being used to search nearby townships east of Proston and South of Kinleymore.
Locals are being urged to search and recheck their properties and report any sightings of Luke.
They are being warned that he may appear disoriented due to his medical condition.
Passing motorists who have provided Luke a lift, or seen him are urged to make contact.
He is described as caucasian, approximately 175cm tall, with a proportionate build, brown hair and brown eyes.
Anyone with information about Luke’s whereabouts is urged to contact police.
Police remain in close contact with Luke’s family as the search and rescue operation continues.
