A man accused of breaking into a number of Geelong properties was also allegedly caught driving with drugs in his system.
Stephen Wayne Zorkau, 32, of North Geelong, appeared in Geelong Magistrates Court on Thurday and applied for bail.
Senior Constable Sean Baskin told the caught Mr Zorkau was interviewed by police on February 11 in relation to allegedly driving with drugs in his system.
On April 9, at about 3.35am, Mr Zorkau allegedly gained access to a car through the passenger door before taking a tool belt and toolbox from the tray for the ute.
Hours later, at 10.40am, he allegedly tried to break into a Newtown home by forcing the back window.
Constable Baskin alleged Mr Zorkau gained access and searched several rooms inside the house before locating keys to a white Honda.
He’s accused of taking a number of items from the property, loading them into the car and driving it away.
Between 2.30am and 3.30am on April 27, Mr Zorkau allegedly gained entry to the basement of Corio Village Shopping Centre and stole a number of items from a store that was under construction.
At 10.40am on April 27, Mr Zorkau allegedly gained access to a property in Hamlyn Heights by forcing a rear sliding door and stole a number of items and attempted to steal a motorcycle.
The court was told he allegedly ended up stealing a bicycle belonging to the victim.
Police said they searched Mr Zorkau’s home on May 17 and seized a laptop which had allegedly been stolen from Sacred Heart Secondary College
Magistrate Peter Mellas granted Mr Zorkau bail under strict conditions.
He is expected to next front court on June 15.
