A man involved in a wild police chase north of Geelong was travelling 150 km/h on the wrong side of the highway, narrowly missing cars before escaping on foot in Corio.
Tyson Hyde-Thomas, 23, now living in Altona, pleaded guilty in the Geelong Magistrates Court to charges including burglary, theft of a motor vehicle, reckless conduct endangering serious injury and dangerous driving.
Police prosecutor Emma Morse said on January 9 this year, Hyde-Thomas was driving a Mazda that had been stolen from Footscray.
Police saw Hyde-Thomas driving and attempted to intercept him, but he failed to stop.

A police statement of facts said the vehicle was driving at speeds of 150km/h at Bacchus Marsh Rd in North Geelong and at one point did a U-turn into oncoming traffic and overtook a truck on the wrong side of the road.
“Vehicles were oncoming and needed to take evasive action,” Ms Morse said.
Hyde-Thomas eventually abandoned the car in Corio and was later found by police andremanded in custody.
On Saturday May 7, last year, about 2.15am, Hyde-Thomas went into a Subway in Newtown and was captured on CCTV gaining entry through the drive thru window.

Ms Morse said Hyde-Thomas began searching the business before taking the cash register with an unknown amount of cash.
At 4.36am he was seen on CCTV footage at a service station in Little River wearing the same clothes from the Subway incident. Police attempted to speak to him in regards to this incident but were unsuccessful.
Hyde-Thomas’ lawyer said his client had ADHD and had started to re-use ice at the age of 19 after having a fallout with his long-term partner.
Magistrate Michelle Hodgson said the January driving offences were particularly concerning.
Hyde-Thomas will be sentenced on June 7.
