“The motorcycle pulled away and officers slowed and turned off their lights.
“Moments later, the motorcyclist collided with a blue Mitsubishi Outlander station wagon on Yooringa Ave at the intersection of Bingara Ave.”
The driver of the car, a 34-year-old Norlane man and his passenger, a 21-year-old Norlane woman, stopped at the scene and were uninjured in the incident.
A spokeswoman for Ambulance Victoria said paramedics were called to the scene.
“A man, believed to be in his 50s, was airlifted to The Alfred in a serious but stable condition with lower body injuries,” the spokeswoman said.
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision with oversight from Professional Standards Command.
