Riders in week seven of Caithness Cycling Club’s 10-mile time trial series had to contend with westerly winds of up to 25 mph and a temperature of 13C – definitely not conducive to fast times. Although winner Andrew MacLeod had another fine ride, he was 1 min 47 sec behind his best time this season.
Runner-up Iain Miller, however, put in an excellent performance to clip 22 seconds off his season’s best and take the maximum of six points in the Handicap League. Gary Angus and Martine Hughes also defied the odds and improved by 17 and five seconds respectively.
Results: 1 Andrew MacLeod, 23 min 28 sec; 2 Iain Miller, 26.08; 3 Alistair Miller, 26.55; 4 Roger Broughton, 28.33; 5 Gary Angus, 28.37; 6 Martine Hughes, 35.06.
In the season-long Handicap League, Gary Angus has a significant lead, with Martine Hughes and Angus MacKay in second and third places.
