Twenty-three keen golfers took part in this year’s Mackays’ Golf Challenge, held at the Wick course. This is an annual social gathering of family and friends, now in its 19th year, with some travelling from as far as the south of England and Berlin.
This year’s best score was by Douglas Mackay Jnr with an impressive round of 43 Stableford points to win the John Mackay Cup. The best Stableford score over the five par threes was by Fiona Harper, with 11 points, winning the Bill Mackay Trophy.
The Kathleen Green Cup for under-18s went to Ross Harper, while Alexander Mackay took the junior trophy.
Longest drive on the fifth was by Richard Macadie, who also had nearest to the pin on the ninth.
The day’s golf was rounded off with a shoot-out on the second, with 17 golfers taking part. Aly Mackay was closest to the pin and donated the £85 prize to Pulteney House and the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity.
Family and friends finished the evening with socialising and prize-giving at the Norseman Hotel.
