Champion sire Love You, whose semen is available from the Haras Des Trotteurs’ stud in Victoria, left important winners in three different countries last weekend.
He sired a feature double at Melton on Saturday night (May 20) with the talented Aroha Koe in the $30,000 Vicbred Platinum Metropolitan Final and the quinella pair in the Free-for-all, Ultimate Stride NZ and Queen Elida NZ.
At Alexandra Park, Auckland, Love You’s brilliant son Eurokash downed a top field in the Group 2 $45,000 Anzac Cup, while in North America, Venerate (by Love You) became trotting’s latest millionaire when he won the prestigious $US155,200 Arthur J. Cutler Memorial in a new lifetime mark of 1:50.2 at The Meadowlands.
Love You sired three ‘new’ winners in Valtino, who won a heat of the 2YO Foundation Trotting Series at Menangle, Kyvalley Michael NZ (Ballarat) and the four-year-old Lovey Dovey Nova (Addington, NZ).
Other recent winners by Love You, who is second on the Australian sires’ money-winning list and third in NZ, were Affaire De Cover, who won in 1:59 at Menangle, and Brother Love (Rangiora, NZ).
BROTHER LOVE REPLAY
A quartet of Love You’s Haras Des Trotteurs’ studmates also left winners last week.
Used To Me was represented by his 24th individual winner from 41 Australian-bred starters when the three-year-old filly Izzara outsprinted her rivals at Maryborough.
Orlando Vici, the sire of Just Believe, Australia’s hope in the Elitlopp, and Quaker Jet were also represented by ‘new’ winners in Olegro (Cambridge Raceway, NZ) and Boxing Nick (Kilmore) respectively.
Meanwhile, Love You’s son Village Mystic left the impressive Ballarat winner Amandine, who posted her fourth success from her last four starts.
