There’s a 3-way tie for the conference lead in the Fox River Classic Conference Baseball race.
That’s after Manitowoc Lincoln and De Pere split what essentially was a doubleheader and Bay Port blanked Sheboygan North 4-nothing.
The Ships, Redbirds, and Pirates have 13-and-4 league records with one more game on their FRCC schedules Monday.
In the action at Municipal Field last night, Lincoln won the completion of the suspended game, 6-to-3 in 9 innings, but De Pere rebounded to win the 2nd game 4-to-1, powered by clutch pitching and home runs by Bryan Gerbers and Javin Gauthier.
Gerbers also went deep in the suspended game.
The Ships had an opportunity to win in dramatic fashion in game-2 but a strikeout with the bases loaded ended the threat.
In that Bay Port-North game yesterday, Cole Benson tossed a complete game shutout.
Up next Monday afternoon, Manitowoc will host Notre Dame, Bay Port is home for Pulaski and De Pere has a road game with Sheboygan North.
Elsewhere yesterday, Denmark shut out Oconto Falls 8-0 as the two-time defending state champion Vikings earn their 2nd undefeated North Eastern Confernece title in 3 years.
