Tozer joins former Archer Capital deal maker Brad Lancken at Liverpool, which was founded by Jonathan Lim. The private equity firm is becoming increasingly acquisitive, last year purchasing Genea, the country’s third-largest IVF provider, for around $200 million. It has also previously invested alongside Macquarie Capital and counts the $9 billion Qantas Super as one of its major backers.
Archer Capital alumni have taken up at some of Australia’s biggest private equity firms in recent years. Michael Blickstead joined Blackstone as a senior managing director in 2019 after a period with Macquarie, reuniting with James Carnegie, another ex-Archer Capital figure. Frank Heckes and David Forde are now senior at EQT Private Equity.
As for Simplyai, the Liverpool investment will allow it to continue to find organic growth as well as consider acquisitions of its own.
Liverpool’s Lancken said: “We have seen first hand the value that Simplyai brings within our own existing portfolio companies and believe they will drive material benefits for enterprise customers and the customers they serve”.
