Incomings are the focus at Anfield as Liverpool look to bring in new faces to join Alexis Mac Allister.
Four senior players have departed, with Roberto Firmino, James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita all leaving Merseyside. Targets have been outlined by the Reds and multiple names continue to be linked with a move.
Khephren Thuram is among those, as are Gabri Veiga and Ryan Gravenberch. But if any of these linked players are to arrive, room may need to be made with further outgoings.
Last season, Sadio Mane was a high-profile departure from Merseyside as he opted for a move to Bayern Munich. It doesn’t look likely that we will see any shocks when it comes to an Anfield exit, but some on the fringes could be ushered on.

*The values are market values and not price-tags.
Caoimhin Kelleher – £10m
The Republic of Ireland shotstopper has been reduced to minutes in the League Cup and some FA Cup games in recent seasons after establishing himself as second-choice Liverpool goalkeeper behind Alisson. Despite enjoying success with the Reds during the 2021/22 season, his place in the national side has come under threat.
Southampton acquired Gavin Bazunu from Manchester City last summer in their quest for goalkeeping stability with the Irishman impressing during a loan spell with Sheffield Wednesday. Disregarding how the Saints finished in the Premier League last campaign, he has nudged himself in front of Kelleher.
The battle for the number one shirt has prompted manager Stephen Kenny to speak out urging the Reds ‘keeper eye first-team football away from L4 after being resigned to just four appearances in all competitions for Liverpool.
Now, the aforementioned £10m is merely his market value, as reported by transfermarkt.co.uk, but he is attracting interest from Premier League clubs. Namely Brentford who are currently plotting life without Spanish goalkeeper David Raya.
He has been open in his desire to play for silverware and it was widely considered he would join Tottenham Hotspur. While that trail has appeared to go cold, there are still reports circulating with Manchester United also.
Should Liverpool sell him, it would mean that they will need to move for a reliable option to deputise for the Brazilian – who claimed the Player of the Season award.
Nat Phillips – £3m
Nat Phillips has established himself as a cult hero at Anfield after his defensive stability helped the Reds through their injury woes. Like his defensive partner, Rhys Williams, they stepped up in key moments to weather selection problems that Jurgen Klopp faced.
He featured five times in all competitions for the Reds but question marks have remained over his future in L4. Phillips would not be pushed out towards a Liverpool exit following his services to the club but he has been subject to interest in recent months.
In January, a hamstring injury to Ibrahima Konate scuppered a potential move for Phillips as he was considered as a cover option for Joel Matip and Joe Gomez when Virgil van Dijk is sidelined.
Turkish giants Galatasaray were reportedly interested while the defender has been attracting interest from Premier League clubs in recent seasons. Although, this summer speculation has been quiet over his future.
Rhys Williams – £1.7m
Williams forged part of the defensive options that dragged Liverpool over the line during the behind-closed-doors season. He too is another defender who has found game time limited as he finds himself down the pecking order.
He found some minutes during his loan spell with Blackpool in the Championship but that was curtailed as he was recalled in January. The 22-year-old has three years remaining on his contract with the Reds and reports towards the end of the most recent campaign suggested he was courting interest from the second tier of English football.
There were suggestions that Liverpool were ready to accept an approach for the Preston-born defender. Like Phillips, there has been no concrete reports of an exit that he could move this summer but could be an option to depart following his Liverpool U21s teammate Leighton Clarkson – who made his move to Aberdeen permanent.
Joel Matip – £10m
Joel Matip has proved to be one of the most astute pieces of business in Liverpool’s recent history after signing from Schalke for a free transfer. The Cameroon defender has won every available piece of silverware to him and made 187 appearances for the Reds since arriving seven years ago.
Liverpool and injury worries have been a frequent occurrence in recent years with the 31-year-old suffering plenty of his own. He was resigned to just 17 Premier League appearances this season as he trickled down the pecking order behind Ibrahima Konate.
The Reds need defensive options but there also a clean bill of health as often as possible – with that in mind centre-back arrivals haven’t been completely wiped off the table, albeit midfield takes priority.
Matip has a year remaining on his contract at Anfield but the Reds could risk losing the then-32-year-old on a free transfer next summer. It means this summer could be the opportune moment to cash in on the centre-back.
Fabio Carvalho – £13m
It was a difficult debut season for Fabio Carvalho. After signing from Fulham, he arrived with promise and while the ceiling remains there and untouched by the youngster, he has faced questions over his future.
His game time became limited following the restart after the World Cup as Liverpool pushed for European qualification. Even before the curtain closed on the season, Carvalho faced interest from the likes of RB Leipzig who saw an offer rebuffed by Liverpool.
“I would like to make all these decisions with the boys before we talk (publicly) about it,” Klopp said at the end of April. “There is no decision in any direction yet.
“What I can say is that this week in training he was exceptional again. He’s really outstanding. So, yes, we will talk to each other and then we will see what we will do – what he wants, what I think, but there’s no decision yet.”
The club do not want to part ways with the 20-year-old but the German head coach did note that the midfielder, who was named in the Championship Team of the Season prior to his Reds move, could leave on loan.
“I think there is a maybe a possibility Fabio goes on loan but the thing is this was not Fabio’s best year in his career, clear, but it might have been his most important.
“No player has impressed me more than Fabio, it is the truth. This talented boy came here with big dreams and big expectations and it didn’t work out – it was okay in the beginning but it didn’t work out in the end. But his work ethic will give him a fantastic career because he trained with getting nothing.”
