QUARTER-BY-QUARTER MATCH REPORT
It was an arm wrestle in the early minutes of the game as both sides felt each other out.
Charlie Cameron got free on a marking lead from a tight angle, but his set shot hit the post.
Levi Casboult, who was absent last week for personal reasons, wasn’t going to miss his opportunity at the other end with a nice running snap finish to get the Suns on the board.
Ben King had a chance to extend Gold Coast’s lead but sprayed his set shot to the left of goals.
But Jack Lukosius stepped up with a big contested mark and put the Suns’ second goal on the board in a promising start for Stuart Dew’s side.
Just when Brisbane needed it, Joe Daniher stepped up with a big running goal to get the home side’s first major of the night.
King missed another set shot for the Suns to make it an inaccurate 2.4 start to the game for visitors.
Will Ashcroft was able to draw a free kick and kick Brisbane’s second goal with five minutes left in the opening term.
Alex Davies missed yet another shot for the Suns to make it a 2.5 conversion in front of goal.
“Missed some opportunities, haven’t they?” Fox Footy commentator Kelli Underwood said of Gold Coast.
