TWO LIMERICK brothers have won National Enterprise Awards for their innovative company.
Nick and Jack Cotter are the founders of Cotter Agritech, based in Abbeyfeale.
Through the company, the pair have developed the Cotter Crate, a sheep handling system that makes the grasping and data recording of animals easier, faster and cheaper for farmers.
They’ve also developed a mobile application known as SmartWorm.

This product is cutting chemical use in agriculture by up to 50%.
The firm received funding from Local Enterprise Office Limerick, with the brothers named the county’s entrepreneurs of the year.
Now, flying the flag for Limerick at the national final in Dublin, they were named winners in the south-west region of Ireland.
Head of enterprise at Limerick’s Local Enterprise Office Mike Cantwell congratulated Jack and Nick Cotter.
He said: “It’s a just recognition of the hard work and determination of Nick and Jack Cotter in setting up and growing their enterprise. The Local Enterprise Office Limerick is proud to support Cotter Agritech and the many micro enterprises and start up’s just like them, throughout the city and county of Limerick and the pivotal role they play in the development of the local economy.”
The National Enterprise Awards took place at the Mansion House in Dublin.
It’s the 23rd year of the annual awards run by the Local Enterprise Offices nationally.
The overall winner was Advanced Cosmetics who are based in Ballina and supported by Local Enterprise Office Mayo.
