About the opportunity
Southern Cross University’s Faculty of Health provides an exciting and innovative learning environment working with individuals, families and communities to meet their health needs and requirements.
The Senior Lecturer or Lecturer in Speech Pathology will contribute to the delivery of our undergraduate speech pathology program by contributing to innovative and contemporary student-centred curriculum and research and community engagement activities. Core responsibilities will include:
- Provide a high standard of teaching and learning, educational design and delivery.
- Undertake innovative curriculum development and teaching in relevant discipline areas and contribute to other Faculty programs in curriculum development and teaching as required.
- Contribute to the Faculty’s research profile through publications in high quality journals and successful applications for grant funding, independently or as a member of a team.
- Undertake relevant community and professional engagement that supports and enhances the University and Faculty’s profile and priorities.
About you
We are seeking applications from experienced Speech Pathology academics who are registered (or eligible for registration) with Speech Pathology Australia. We are open to candidates with an emerging track record of teaching, and teaching scholarship and or research, or are established leader(s) within the discipline.
To be successful in this role you will bring demonstrated experience in the use of contemporary educational technologies and teaching both practical and theoretical topics in Speech Pathology in blended and online environments across a range of practice settings and populations enables you to contribute to the design, implementation and evaluation of curriculum and resources that support and enhance the effectiveness of student learning in a range of areas.
You will be passionate about promoting lifelong learning and ethical practice and demonstrate commitment to your own continuing professional development and professional practice.
More specifically, you will possess:
- A Masters (Level B) or PhD (Level C) in Speech Pathology, and academic and clinical experience. You will have registration with Speech Pathology Australia or be eligible to obtain this registration.
- Demonstrated experience in the design, implementation and evaluation of innovative curricula and teaching resources that support and enhance the effectiveness of student learning in a range of areas within a university setting.
- Evidence of outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, including an ability to foster and model effective relationships with students, staff and industry representatives;
- A track record in scholarship as evidenced by research grants and publication output, including where possible publications in highly ranked journals. (For applicants seeking a Teaching Scholar appointment, this criterion is desirable, but not essential)

This is a continuing position based at either our Gold Coast or Coffs Harbour campus. Generous relocation support is available.
The successful candidate can negotiate a part-time or full-time appointment.
The level of appointment will be made at Lecturer (Level B) or Senior Lecturer (Level C) commensurate with the qualifications, skills and experience of the successful candidate.
The base salary for Academic Level B ranges from $101,544 – $120,179 per annum, plus 17% employer’s contribution to superannuation. The total remuneration package is up to $140,609.
The base salary for Academic Level C ranges from $123,900 – $142,531 per annum, plus 17% employer’s contribution to superannuation. The total remuneration package is up to $166,761.
