Joe Mixon Cincinnati Bengals: Star running back lands in another controversy as authorities respond to a shooting near his home

Cincinnati Bengals’ running back Joe Mixon finds himself again in the middle of a controversial incident. Just a month after pointing a gun at a woman in broad daylight, he is now possibly involved in another incident involving a firearm. Although this time the situation seems to be a little worse than before.

Reports of shots fired near Mixon’s residence in Anderson Township, Ohio, prompted authorities to respond to the scene. While it is not yet clear whether Mixon is directly or indirectly involved in the shooting, authorities reportedly entered his house to investigate. However, no evidence has been made public to suggest his involvement.

How is this incident different from the one Joe Mixon was involved in before?

Mixon’s last brush with the law was when he pointed a gun at a woman’s face in January. During the incident, Mixon reportedly said, “You should be punched in the face, I should shoot you, the police [can’t] Take me”. But when he was arraigned before a county judge, all charges against him were dropped and his warrant revoked.

This time things are a little different. First, a firearm discharged near his home. In addition, a young man is said to have been injured and hospitalized. Although his injuries are only minor, authorities have not been able to determine the cause yet. Mixon’s sister, Shelonda, insists her brother had nothing to do with the shooting. No one has yet been arrested by the police.

Will Mixon’s off-field issues affect his position on the Bengals’ roster?

Joe Mixon’s character has been in question ever since he appeared on the NFL community’s radar. Back in 2014, while still playing at Oklahoma, Mixon punched a girl in the face. The incident resulted in broken facial bones, and the girl needed surgery. In 2016, he was suspended for one game after he got into an argument with a parking attendant over a citation.

However, this did not prevent the Bengals from selecting him 48th overall in the 2017 NFL Draft. 2021 proved to be his best year, as he set career highs in rushing attempts, receiving yards and touchdowns. While his performance on the gridiron is good, it probably isn’t a good excuse to get involved in off-field issues. How will the Bengals react to this news?
