ODESSA — The Jefferson City Jays and Lady Jays both finished second in the team standings Saturday in the Class 4 District 7 meet.
On the boys side, the Jays totaled 117 points. Helias was first with 181.5, while Warrensburg took third in the nine-team field with 111.
The Jays won one event Saturday, the 4×100-meter relay. The team of Josh Wilson, Rodney Wilson, Demario Wright and Kris Scott took first in 42.85.
Three Jays took second in their individual events — Wright in the 400-meter dash, Seth Stumbaugh in the 1,600-meter run and Zane Wings in the javelin.
Charlie Burns took third in the 110- and 300-meter hurdles for Jefferson City, while Rodney Wilson was third in the 100-meter dash. Luke Mosley was third in the pole vault, while Victor Azuara was third in the javelin.
Jackson Figo was third in the discus and fourth in the shot put for Jefferson City, while James Weatherspoon was fourth in the 300-meter hurdles.
In the other relay events, Jefferson City was second in the 4×200, third in the 4×400 and fourth in the 4×800.
The top four finishers in each event advance to next Saturday’s sectional in Warrensburg.
The Lady Jays finished with 142 points to take second behind Helias (162.33) on the girls side. Pleasant Hill was third with 109 among the nine teams.
Jefferson City won five events Saturday, including two individual titles.
Cheria Galbreath was first in the 300-meter hurdles (46.88), while Emmarie Graham took top honors in the triple jump (36-2.25).
The Lady Jays won three relays. Jefferson City was first in 4×200-meter relay (Emerald Okpodighe, Graham, Galbreath and Seleena Morris) in 1:44.65, the 4×400 (Morris, Galbreath, Savannah Pemberton and Riley Schonhardt) in 4:04.74 and the 4×800 (Victoria Smith, Jenna Schnipper, Ella Kinsey and Adelaide Jones) in 10:16.09.
Seleena Morris was second in the 200- and 400-meter dashes for the Lady Jays, while Stevenette Samuels was runner-up in the shot put and discus.
Galbreath was third in the 100-meter hurdles, while Riley Schonhardt was fourth in the 100- and 300-meter hurdles.
Jefferson City finished third in the 4×100-meter relay, while Schnipper was third in the 3,200-meter run. Others finishing fourth for the Lady Jays were Smith in the 800, Jones in the 1,600 and Deja Mays in the high jump.
