Japan Airlines has launched a status fast track for members residing in North America (based on the airlines listed on the application form).
Japan Airlines will grant JAL MILEAGE BANK FLY ON Sapphire status valid through March 31, 2204, to select members who apply by July 31. The airline promises to process applications in one to two weeks.
You can access JAL’s page for the Sapphire status application here.
JAL’s MILEAGE BAMK (JMB) has several tiers and their Sapphire maps to the Oneworld Sapphire that comes with benefits such as business class check-in, lounge access, extra luggage allowance, and priority boarding.
JAL’s Premier, Diamond, and Diamond Metal are Emerald tiers with more benefits, such as first-class check-in and first-class lounge access.
There is not much information on JAL’s page for this offer, but it suggests that it is valid for traveling TO Japan and Asia.
There is a rather long Google Form that you need to fill out, and there is a list of airlines at the end that include Delta, American, United, and JAL’s Japanese rival, ANA.
The form also suggests that the match is likely only valid for those that have existing bookings on JAL, as they ask for the flight number and date.
I submitted the form as I have one JAL flight later in the year that is part of Oneworld RTW ticket.
They also sent an email confirmation.
Conclusion
I applied and will report when and if they grant the Sapphire status.
Unfortunately, the JAL’s page for this match or fast track, as it appears to require you to have a booked flight, is very light on information, but you can parse the necessary details of the requirements by looking at the form.
