For newlyweds Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck, the fourth time’s the charm for closing on their first family home together in Los Angeles. The price: $60.85 million.
After three failed attempts to buy a mansion, the A-list couple has bought a fully furnished, 38,000-square-foot estate at 2571 Wallingford Drive in Beverly Crest, the Wall Street Journal reported, citing unidentified sources. The seller was a firm tied to spec house developer Gala Asher.
The 5.2-acre compound in gated Wallingford Estates in Beverly Hills 90210 was first listed for $135 million in 2018, then slashed to $75 million in March, according to Zillow.
The main house has 12 bedrooms and 24 bathrooms. There’s also a 5,000-square-foot guesthouse, a caretaker house and a two-bedroom guardhouse.
Billed as a “one-of-a-kind indoor sports complex,” the estate includes basketball and pickleball courts, a gym, a boxing ring, plus a sports lounge and bar.
It’s also a car collector’s dream, with a 12-car garage — plus parking for 80 more cars.
The two-story white mansion, built on a promontory, overlooks what may be the biggest zero-edge pool in town, at 155-feet long.
Broker Ginger Glass of Compass represented the seller. Lopez and Affleck were represented by broker Brett Lawyer of Carolwood Estates.
The French-style Wallingford Estate, built in 2000, was modeled on Le Petit Trianon, Marie Antoinette’s private château, according to Forbes. It has a 5,300-square-foot master suite, plus a cinema, wine room and a whisky lounge. It also has a spa with a hair and nail salon, sauna, massage room and stylist area.
It was purchased by developer Asher in November 2016 for $22 million, then revamped.
Its prior owner, healthcare entrepreneur Jeoung Lee, bought the home after its previous owner, Curtis Somoza, was caught in a $64 million Ponzi scheme, for which he was sentenced to 25 years in federal prison.
J.Lo and Affleck, married nine months ago, have had trouble closing local real estate deals.
They canceled escrow on a $64 million, 16,000-square-foot estate at 1678 Alta Mura Road in the Pacific Palisades, soon after they walked away from a $34.5 million mansion at 14330 West Sunset Boulevard. A $55 million Bel-Air estate also fell through.
Affleck sold his Pacific Palisades home for $28.5 million last year, records show. Lopez is listing her home in Bel-Air for $39.995 million.
