Two Brighton neighbourhoods – The Lanes and the North Laine – have ranked as the 20th most anti-social neighbourhoods in the entire UK, new data has revealed. With the highest rate in Sussex, these neighbourhoods were found to have 106 incidents of anti-social behaviour (ASB) for every 1,000 people, which is much higher than the national average of 17 per 1,000 per people.
With these neighbourhoods having the highest rate in Sussex, with 1,135 incidents being reported last year in this area, an interactive map also shows other places in the county that face high levels of ASB. This behaviour could include vandalism, verbal abuse, shouting, swearing, fighting, intimidation and harassment.
As well as this popular and quirky shopping area with high ASB rates, data has also shown that the area with the second highest record of ASB incidents was the Pier neighbourhood in Eastbourne. This neighhbourhood has around 52 crimes per 1,000 residents.
