Icelandair just made it even easier for people in Detroit and surrounding cities to get to Reykjavik. The newest route from Icelandair officially launched with its inaugural flight last week, and you can book flights right now to the city, which is also a major connecting hub to 25 other European summer hotspots like Spain, Italy, and France.
The flight is operating four times a week, on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. The flights depart from the Detroit airport at 8:30 pm, and return flights depart Reykjavik at 5 pm and arrive in Detroit at 6:25 pm. The non-stop, six-hour flights are very affordable as well, starting at a roundtrip price of just $550. Right now, the airline is also offering a deal that bundles an ele7tric car rental and roundtrip tickets for less than $800.
“Icelandair is pleased to offer a refreshing new choice when travelling to Detroit. Our new flights will offer business and leisure travellers more options to and from Iceland and beyond,” said Bogi Nils Bogason, president & CEO of Icelandair Group, in a press release.
The route is not currently a permanent addition to Icelandair’s existing routes. The Detroit-Reykjavik flights are only planned to run through October 30, 2023, according to the airline.
The low-cost Icelandic airline has been expanding its offerings lately, boosting its winter 2023-2024 flight schedule significantly and planning to launch new flights to Tel Aviv starting this summer.
