On Tuesday 6 June, 69 Gympie Golf Club Vets played for the June Month Medal and Red Shirt.
After the little rain on the weekend the course was looking a little greener. Thanks to green staff for all their work.
Best score of the day was Ian Barling on 69.
Ian has finally won himself a red shirt – congratulations and welcome to the Red Shirt Club.
Scores for the day included A grade Ian Barling winning on a count back to Kim Blackburn on 69.
Also coming in with 69 was Doug Sutton.
B grade was won by Jeff Hudgson on 72 closely followed by Wade Wockner on 73 and coming in third was Greg Lewis on 74.
C grade was won by Neil Hitchens on 71.
In second place was Mick King on a count back to Michael James on 75.
The ball run down went to 76.
Acccuracy drive was won by Robin Kingma and Pin shots were won by Ian Barling, Wade Wockner, Jim Eason and Bill Woods.
Glen Morrison won the putting competition with 27 putts.
Jim Eason won the ball in the pink bag.
Welcome back to Gavin Burls, great to see you on the track again.
Jelliatrics:
Ian Moore was playing with an Optima ball that magically turned into a Precept. How did that happen Ian? Was a wrong ball hit?
A grader Tim Coogan was out driven by 2 C grade ladies, one of which only used a 6 iron to hit off the tee. Can’t have been a good one Tim!
Ken Wilkins must have been off with the fairies – twice he tried to get into the wrong cart.
Jeff Hudgson thought he would hit a few balls in the practice nets. He had the cart there but couldn’t find his clubs – they were still in his car. A little dementia coming on Jeff?
Richard Lynam is off for putting practice and the lucky draw prize will be $80 next week.
Congratulations to Dell Groundwater for a hole in one on the 16th on Saturday.
Quote of the week: “Nothing goes down slower than a golf handicap,” Bobby Nichols.
