The show explores the lives of high schoolers dealing with love, friendships, drugs, s*x, and trauma, often featuring explicit content. She admitted that she didn’t prepare her dad for what he would see, as their conversations typically revolved around father-daughter matters unrelated to work. To her surprise, her father decided to watch Euphoria without telling her, and her grandparents joined him.
“My dad and my grandpa turned it off and walked out,””Yeah, I didn’t prepare my dad…at all. I mean how do you bring up a conversation? Also, when I talk to my dad it’s usually not about work…we talk father-daughter conversations.”
Sweeney shared, highlighting their disapproval. However, she mentioned that her mother and grandmother have been more supportive, with her mother being prepared for the explicit scenes due to her frequent visits to the Euphoria set.

Sydney Sweeney‘s portrayal of her popular character in Euphoria has stirred controversy, with concerns raised about the show’s explicit content and the handling of nude scenes by creator Sam Levinson. The actress revealed that internet users went so far as to take screenshots of her nude scenes and tag her family members on social media, a behavior she found “completely disgusting and unfair.”

During an interview with British GQ last year, Sweeney expressed her frustration, stating,
“You have a character that goes through the scrutiny of being a s*xualized person at school and then an audience that does the same thing.”

She emphasized that these reprehensible acts would not deter her from taking on nude scenes, asserting, “I think it’s ridiculous. I’m an artist, I play characters. It makes me want to play characters that piss people off more.”
In her most recent role, Sweeney portrays Reality Winner, a former National Security Agency contractor, in the movie Reality. Based on a true story, the film depicts Winner’s arrest on suspicion of leaking confidential documents and her subsequent prison sentence of over five years.
