Launched June 14 by Huron Perth public health, Check What We Inspect is a webpage that provides health inspection reports of local food premises, including restaurants, grocery stores, caterers, rental halls and food trucks, throughout the region.
Additionally, these businesses are required to display the health unit’s Check What We Inspect signage near the entrance to the premises, agency officials said in a release.
“Disclosing inspection results online allows the public to access inspection reports more readily,” said Lori Holmes, the unit’s public health manager. “When supporting local businesses, look for Check What We Inspect signage at the entrance to know that the premises is inspected.”

Leading up to the webpage’s launch, public health staff have been working closely with local operators by providing written updates, conducting a survey, and hand delivering information packages and signs.
Other reports penned by agency inspectors, including recreation water facilities, small drinking water systems, and personal service settings, such as tattoo parlours, will be added to the webpage in stages. This webpage will also feature infection prevention and control investigations, as well as any lapses, in future updates.
Check What We Inspect, officials said, enhances the existing disclosure policy at the health unit. Beach water quality and convictions against tobacco and vaping retailers were previously available on the health unit’s website. The public can also access any public health inspection report by requesting a copy from the unit.
