Those visiting a local hardware store might come home with more than a new socket set on May 20.
Garden City Home Hardware Building Centre is hosting the Fur-Ever Home Pet Adopt-a-thon on Saturday, May 20, at its Fourth Avenue location in St. Catharines. The day will feature family friendly activities, as well as adoptable pets currently residing at the Lincoln County Humane Society (LCHS).
“We are thrilled to host a pet adopt-a-thon and support the Lincoln County Humane Society,” said Dennis Sawatzky, store manager of Garden City Home Hardware Building Centre. “It’s an opportunity for our community to come together and make a difference, while also enjoying a day of fun activities and great deals.”
The LCHS mobile adoption unit will be there from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. They’ll be joined by Chase, Skye and Marshall from the popular kids show “Paw Patrol.” The Port Dalhousie Lions Club will also be there providing a barbecue lunch.
Children can enter a colouring contest to win the “Ultimate Summer Package,” which includes two field-level tickets to the June 5 Toronto Blue Jays game and more.
Visitors are encouraged to support a pet food and supplies drive throughout the day. Items collected will be donated to the LCHS and those who bring a donation will receive an additional ballot for the prize package.
“Our team of dedicated staff and volunteers work around the clock to ensure that every animal that comes through our doors receives the love and care they deserve,” said Cortnie Welychka, LCHS shelter operations co-ordinator.
“We’re so grateful for local businesses that open their doors to give our animals a chance to find loving forever homes where they can live out their days in happiness.”
