It was on hiatus in 2022, and now Aldi’s “infamous” snow gear sale is back. The move has brought excitement to shoppers, who formed huge queues.
Since launching in the US Aldi has become one of the fastest growing grocers in America.
The German discount store has brought back its “famous” snow range, with prices starting between $5 and $119.95, with stock hitting the store on Saturday.
Social media showed customers queuing up outside of their respective Aldi more than 30 minutes before stores opened.
Chloe, who posts on TikTok as @mymoneydiary_, shared a video of her attempt to snag some of the discount winter items from the “infamous Aldi sale”.
Her video showed her having to sit in a line, which snaked up a set of stairs, before the roller doors were pulled up and shoppers were allowed in.
Some people even brought their own chairs in order to be prepared for the occasion.
One woman posted a photo outside of her local Aldi with the caption, “30 mins until opening, this is in the queue, at least double this behind me.”
There weren’t scenes like this at all Aldi stores, with many social media users reporting they were able to stroll right in without worry.
“Ducked in at 9.30, grabbed two merino thermal tops and a pair of merino trackpants, smiled and said thanks to the bloke with two kids just emptying the last of his packed food trolley onto the belt who let me in front of him, paid, and skipped out at 9.33. Happy dance,” one person said.
An Aldi spokesperson told news.com.au, “We have been blown away by the overwhelming response by our customers for the return of our hotly anticipated Snow Gear Special Buys this weekend.
“The enthusiasm we have seen is reflective of the high quality and low price point the Snow Gear presents.
“We still have plenty of stock available. We encourage customers to visit the ALDI website and use our Special Buy stock checker to check if a particular colour or design they’re after is available.”
The range will include more than 70 items, from ski jackets and pants to wool socks, beanies and scarfs and even thermoboots.
