One of the rarest and most enchantingly adorable pet companions in Disney Dreamlight Valley is, without a doubt, the Rainbow Fox. This magical critter serves as an endgame reward for completing the Valley’s “Potato Mystery.” Uncovering this mystery involves collecting six differently colored potatoes to create potions of their corresponding colors. Combining these colorful tinctures will create the Rainbow Potion, an enchanted concoction used to unlock the Rainbow Fox in Dreamlight Valley.

Crafting the Rainbow Potion Recipe in Dreamlight Valley

To make the Rainbow Potion in Dreamlight Valley, you must know how to obtain each of the six potatoes required for the magical mixture. All of these potatoes are tied to a hidden quest that must be completed for their obtainment. Let’s go over how to get each in detail.

Purple Potato Location (Royal Purple Potion)

The Purple Potato for the Royal Purple Potion can be acquired by speaking with the Dark Portal in Frosted Heights. Specifically, we are referring to the portal in the Secret Chamber where you first encounter Olaf. After completing the gem puzzle, you’ll gain access to the Dark Portal. Answer its questions correctly to receive the Purple Potato.

Blue Potato Location (Brilliant Blue Potion)

To craft the Brilliant Blue Potion, you’ll need to collect five blue-colored items and place them into a pool of water inside Vitalys Mines. Here are the five objects you’ll need:

Blue Potato	The potato sits at the back of Ursula’s Lair.
Blue Shell	Located in Moana’s Realm, this shell can be found on an island accessed via an invisible maze on the ocean water. The Blue Potato is needed to clear the maze.
Blue Starfish	This starfish can be found in a small alcove on the beachside opposite where you find Ariel, whose mini-realm is accessed by the Raft.
Blue Book	This book is hidden at the bottom of Mystical Cave, where you fish out the Orb of Power.
Blue Gem	By following the left side of the railcar tracks in Vitalys Mine, you’ll eventually reach a dead end where the track has collapsed. However, if you turn left and cross the Night Thorn bridge, you’ll find this special gem.

Green Potato Location (Crystalline Green Potion)

The Green Potato, grown from the Green Seed, is the next item needed for the Dreamlight Valley Rainbow Potion. The potato’s seed is acquired from a crystal ball inside the Herbalist Room of Vitalys Mine. This room is accessed by clearing Simba’s Friendship Quest, “Seed of Memories.” Plant the Green Seed in the Forgotten Lands, and it should grow into a potato within an hour or so.

The Golden Potato can be found in the vault of Scrooge’s Store. This potato will take you on a journey as you complete the following steps:

1. Place the potato on an altar in the Mystical Cave, located two floors from the entrance.
2. Take the Golden Carrot you receive and put it on Elsa’s table inside her frozen home in Forest of Valor.
3. Now with the Golden Crab, head to the top floor of the Dream Castle. Check the top floor on the front left for the rune-shaped item that will produce a Golden Night Thorn.
4. This thorn can be placed on Merlin’s desk within his home to create the Gleaming Gold Potion Potion.

Orange Potato Location (Electrifying Orange Potion)

The Orange Potato’s Electrifying Orange Potion involves a scavenger for Orange Pebbles. These tiny collectibles are located within the Dream Castle, including its various Realms. However, you will need the Lenses of Shadows to see these minuscule pebbles. This pair of lenses can be obtained by completing “The Treasure Hunt Part 2” with Scrooge McDuck.

Red Potato Location (Raging Red Potion)

The last potato you’ll need for the Disney Dreamlight Rainbow Potion is the Red Potato for the Raging Red Potion. You can make this by taking the Red Potato found inside Remy’s home and combining it with the following:

Chili Pepper	Grown using seeds from Goofy’s Stall in the Sunlit Plateau
Slush Ice	Recipe made during Remy’s Friendship Quest, “The Unknown Flavor”

Unlocking the Rainbow Fox Companion in Dreamlight Valley

Finally, you can unlock the Dreamlight Valley Rainbow Fox by combining the potions together to make the Rainbow Potion. Take this elixir to the Dark Castle, a late-game location accessed during “The Dark Castle” Story Quest. On the floor floor, check the right-hand side of the entry hall. 

Next to the bed, you’ll find the statue of a stone fox. Give this fox your Rainbow Potion Dreamlight Valley to transform it into the Rainbow Fox Companion.
