Hour-by-hour weather forecast at Edgbaston as rain and storms threaten The Ashes

The Met Office has issued a series of yellow weather warnings as heavy rain and thunderstorms are set to put a pause on the UK’s recent warm weather. Most of the country is facing weather warnings today and Monday, with some areas set to experience thunderstorms while others will be hit by heavy showers.

As continue at Edgbaston, the event is threatened by heavy showers and thunderstorms this afternoon. The Met Office predicts that the rain and storm weather will begin at 4pm and could last until 7pm.

The forecast for today read: “After a largely dry start, some warm sunny spells with heavy showers and thunderstorms soon breaking out by the afternoon. These mainly east where they may merge into longer spells of rain. Light winds, though perhaps gusty in heavy downpours. Maximum temperature 25 °C.

Birmingham is also set to experience heavy rain this evening with some thunder at times. The bad weather is set to continue next week but there is still high temperatures.

Rather cloudy with showers merging into longer spells of heavy rain through the evening, perhaps turning thundery at times. Becoming drier overnight with some clear spells developing. Minimum temperature 13 °C.

The forecast for Monday reads: “After a dry and bright start for most, showers soon breaking out. These locally heavy and perhaps thundery at times. Feeling warm and humid with light winds. Maximum temperature 25 °C.”
