A former Denbighshire chapel dating back to the 19th century has gone up for sale. The old Gwyddelwern Methodist Chapel comes with an adjacent school room and two bedroom cottage and is billed by the estate agents as a potential conversion project.
With a guide price of just £40,000, it could end up being one of the cheapest properties on the market in North Wales. As you’d expect with such a low asking price, the property has seen better days.
The chapel itself is in relatively good condition, with all the original features, including the pulpit and pews, still in place. But the school room and cottage need a complete renovation from top to bottom.

There is a lot of space to work with, however. The main chapel measures at 1643 sq. ft. whereas the school room measures at 718 sq. ft. The chapel itself dates back to 1806. It was rebuilt in 1832, and again in 1870 before it was enlarged in 1906. The current stone structure was designed in a sub-classical style as part of the 1870 rebuild.
The chapel will be sold by public auction on June 22 at 2pm at Lion Quays Resort, Weston Rhyn, Gobowen, Oswestry. You can take a look inside the chapel with our gallery below. For more information, you can view the listing here.
