Police have arrested and charged two Hells Angels outlaw motorcycle gang members following an alleged public shooting in Sydney’s east last month.
The arrests were made after police say seven shots were fired by a high-powered firearm into a unit on Gregory St in South Coogee at about 8pm on Saturday, May 27, damaging the building’s exterior.
There were no reported injuries and detectives established Strike Force Auberson to investigate the incident.
On June 2, a 41-year-old man was arrested at a house on Farnsworth Ave, Campbelltown.
Police say a search of the man’s home uncovered a semiautomatic high-powered rifle fitted with a scope as well as a significant quantity of drugs, seized to undergo further forensic examination.
At about 1.40pm, about an hour after the man’s arrest, police arrested a 31-year-old man at a home in Wauchope Crescent, South Coogee.
Both men were charged with firing a firearm at a dwelling/house with a disregard for safety, while the 41-year-old was also charged with not disclosing the identity of the alleged getaway driver.
Police allege both men were part of the Hells Angels OMG at the time of the shooting.
The 41-year-old was formally refused bail to appear at Downing Centre Local Court on Tuesday, while the 31-year-old was refused bail to appear at Waverley Local Court on Wednesday.
Inquiries into the incident are ongoing and police have urged anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers.
