Residents are encouraged to have a say on an exciting masterplan for Nielson Park that aims to better facilitate and reinvigorate the popular area.
The Bargara location is a beloved spot for locals and visitors alike and has long been a hub for recreational activities and social gatherings.
Recognising its significance, Council has identified the need to develop a masterplan for Nielson Park to ensure its future development aligns with the community’s needs and aspirations.
The masterplan will guide future developments within the park, ensuring they are undertaken in a deliberate and structured manner to cater to the community’s evolving requirements.
Bundaberg Region Mayor Jack Dempsey said over the years Council had actively sought feedback from the community to shape the vision for a modern, inclusive, and functional area at Nielson Park.
“Engagement with community groups, families, and individuals helped Council gain valuable insights and perspectives,” he said.
“Now, we are excited to share a draft concept masterplan for Nielson Park.
“This plan reflects the collective input received from the community and presents a vision for the park’s future.”
Nielson Park masterplan needs feedback
Mayor Dempsey emphasised the importance of community participation in this process.
“We value the opinions and ideas of our community members,” he said.
“This is an opportunity for everyone to have a say and further contribute to a cherished community space.”
To actively engage with the draft concept masterplan and provide feedback, residents are encouraged to participate in an online survey, available here.
“Your insights will help us in the creation of a vibrant and functional park that will continue to be a treasured asset for generations to come,” Mayor Dempsey said.
The survey is open on the Our Bundaberg Region website until Friday 16 July.
The Nielson Park masterplan has been undertaken under Bundaberg Regional Council’s Parks and Open Space Strategy 2019 – 2026.
