Rockhampton Regional Council is inviting community members to have their say on key animal management issues within the Region.
Planning and Regulation Councillor Grant Mathers said the Animal Management Strategy, which was endorsed in 2021, sets the direction for animal management in the Rockhampton Region until 2026.
“Every three years, we undertake a review of the strategy to ensure it remains relevant to the community and what is important to them”, Cr Mathers said.
“Hearing directly from the community is the most effective way to influence strategies like this one. You as a community member have the first-hand experience.
“The strategy was created to help pave our path moving forward and promotes and enhances responsible pet ownership across the region.
“Our Local Laws team do a fantastic job year-round and this strategy will help further inform the community about Council’s role and future priorities in animal management.
“We all love to spoil our furry friends and that’s why it’s so important to provide input on the strategy so we can ensure our pets best interests are well looked after.
“The Animal Management Strategy endorses the vision of ‘your pet, your responsibility’ and this plan aims to improve the safety and social amenity of the region.
“It can only be truly effective with the cooperation of responsible pet owners and the broader community, and that’s why we need your input.
“Whether you’re a pet owner or not, I strongly encourage all members of the community to take the 5-minute survey and let us know what’s most important to you.”
