What do Hatters for Music do when they want to host a unique fundraiser? They ask international spirit medium Karen T. Hluchan to host an “Afternoon with Spirit.”
Like most fundraising organizations for student programs, Hatters for Music has held dine-and-donates, sold flowers and, of course, set up baked goods tables during marching band, indoor guard and percussion competitions. Still, the monies raised can sometimes fall short of what is needed to keep the award-winning Hatboro-Horsham Marching Unit funded.
“We were really pressed this year for funds, and everybody was asked to brainstorm for something different,” Hatters for Music parent volunteer Gina Sweeney said. “What is being done everywhere else we do not want to repeat. Let’s get something totally unique and out of the box and go with it.”
The group hopes a new fundraiser, featuring Hatboro-Horsham High School alum Karen T. Hluchan — a member of the high school’s 1988 championship color guard team and theater arts — will provide the program with much needed funds.
Hluchan, of Healing Spirit with Love, is a spirit medium connecting countless people with their deceased loved ones. A published author, mediumship instructor, and sought-after international presence, Hluchan has worked with clients on six continents, including grammy-winning musicians, celebrities, and people in almost every state in the U.S. to bridge the gap between loved ones seeking to reach their family and friends who have crossed over into heaven.
On June 4, she is offering a special presentation at Hatboro-Horsham High School’s auditorium, which will include a brief explanation about how spirit communication works before she brings through people and animals in spirit and their messages.
“I have seen her and heard her messages,” Sweeney said of Hluchan. “She’s so much about connecting people to their loved ones that have passed. She’s so sincere and so genuine.”
The majority of the event proceeds will be donated to the Hatboro-Horsham Marching Unit, which comprises high school students in marching band, indoor percussion, and color guard. The aim is to provide students with the opportunity to participate in these programs.
“This music program gives kids a sense of belonging, as well as teamwork and leadership skills. I have such great memories,” Hluchan said. “I’m extremely honored to be able to give back to my community. There was no hesitation on my part to help save the program for the students of my hometown.”
Among the last class to graduate from the former high school on Meetinghouse Road, Hluchan’s “17-year-old self” is excited to perform on the high school’s stage yet again. This time, instead of theater, she will educate, entertain, and connect an audience of 500 with their loved ones in spirit.
How will an audience member know the message is meant for them?
Using all Hluchan’s senses, those in spirit bring through information about their personality, what they looked like, hobbies, jobs, how they passed, and more to establish the match with the audience members. Once the connection is made, direct messages are shared from their loved ones in spirit, including guidance, knowledge of events on earth, love, information about the future, and much more. The more people in the room, the more extraordinary details come through to match audience members with their loved ones in spirit.
“It is an amazing experience, even for me, as it is astonishing how those in spirit bring details I would never be privy to,” Hluchan says of the experience. “Even though the readings are random and not everyone will receive a direct message, there are often messages within the messages that can resonate with those in attendance. The audience will also learn a lot about heaven, how loved ones in spirit send signs, and about our existence beyond life on earth.”
The Hatters for Music fundraiser, featuring Karen T. Hluchan to benefit the Hatboro-Horsham Marching Unit, will be held on Sunday, June 4 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Hatboro-Horsham High School, 899 Horsham Road in Horsham. Hluchan is selling tickets on her website, which range in price from $35 to $70 for general admission and two tiers of VIP tickets.
