It is only the second game the Murray Bombers have lost since the start of last season, but just how did the Lions get across the line?
Looking at raw numbers, Echuca still managed to get on top in key areas.
The reigning premier was plus-60 in disposals, and won the contested possession count 134 to 131. They also won the clearance count by two, 41 to 39, while pumping the ball inside 50 on 47 occasions, while Seymour could manage just 33 entries.
The pressure was high too, as the Murray Bombers recorded an overall pressure rating of 123, 26 points higher than the Lions, with 11 more tackles and 12 more pressure acts.
Efficiency was on the side of Echuca too, as they used the ball at 72 per cent, while Seymour went at a slightly lower 65 per cent.
While both sides recorded roughly the same number of turnovers, it was Seymour that was able to make Echuca pay, with a score of 5.5 (35) coming from turnovers, as opposed to Echuca scoring just 2.4 (16) from the same source.
The same can be said about scores from marks inside 50, as the Lions only grabbed three more than Echuca (11-8).
But a total of 42 of Seymour’s points came from marks inside its attacking arc, while the Murray Bombers mustered just 2.2 (14).
Jackson Stewart was the best for Echuca, notching 120 ranking points against a tough Seymour midfield.
With round 11 split over two weekends, Echuca will have a bye this week, before returning to action against Mansfield on July 1.
