Best Bet: Race 7 Pliskova (No. 3)
Swiss Ace mare Pliskova returns to racing after a promising first preparation and if her recent trial win at Muswellbrook where she raced on the speed and ran time is any guide the Stephen Jones-trained mare is set for a winning return. After runner up finishes at Tamworth at her first two career outings, Pliskova broke through for her maiden win at Muswellbrook and the speed figures returned were a couple of lengths superior for the track and distance and with three winners coming out of the race the form has been franked. 1100m for the first time is the only query however at the $3.00 available in early betting it’s worth the punt.
Value Bet: Race 8 Castlebar Road (No. 1)
Hard to find a genuine roughie as a value bet so going with a second special in the Brett Robb-trained Castlebar Road. The now six-year-old has returned to racing in good order finishing a close second at the track and distance resuming after covering plenty of ground in the run and didn’t quite see out 1100m at Bathurst last start. In with a winnable weight after the 3kg claim for Jayden Barrie and back to 1000m expecting Castlebar Road to lead his rivals a merry dance on Monday.
